This review has been revised from 5 stars to 1 star. I have been a member of this gym for four years. A couple of months ago , they charged me an additional £20 on top of my usual subscription fee. When I inquired about this unexpected deduction, I was told it was because I did not unload weights from some equipment after use, based on their CCTV review! The response I received from them (Dave) was very rude and abrupt, and their tone in the email was disrespectful. They mentioned that they sent me a warning 7 months ago and that a charge will be issued if this happened again. Nevertheless, I was not notified (by email, text, letter...etc) in advance that this fee would be deducted on that month, which I find unprofessional and disrespectful. Moreover, I didn't give consent for this alleged penalty to be taken off my bank account and I asked for a signed contract to show whether they have authority to charge it and no reply! It is not solely about the charge, I pay £40 each month as subscription fee. However, the manner in which I was spoken to in the email was blunt and unpleasant. They also gave me a final warning threatening further consequences, despite having done nothing to warrant it—no equipment was broken, nor did I cause any disruption. I don’t even visit the gym that often— only 2-3 times a week—yet they benefit from my membership fees even when I don’t use the facilities regularly. I consider myself a very organized person who takes care to put things back where they belong. On rare occasions, I might leave weights on machines, but I never leave excessive weights like 90 or 100 kg, which others do. It seems, however, that they don’t care about their members and can not be bothered to keep loyal members. It is a shame and I canceled my membership.
